Signal Creek was one of the first upscale neighborhoods and only the second master-planned community to be built in the City of Thornton. The challenges that Centre faced were two-fold: to weather the depression that hit in the mid-80’s shortly after the project had begun, and to solve the complicated transportation issues that ensnarled the entire region around the site.

Due to its staying power, the breadth of Centre’s land investment portfolio and the strength of its existing relationships, Centre Communities was able to hold onto the land that would become Signal Creek for five years, and then immediately resume the development with great success once the market had rebounded.  In addition, Centre worked closely with the City of Thornton transportation department to resolve road connection issues — ultimately resulting in significant road improvements and reduced fire and police response times. Centre’s development of the Signal Creek trail system and the overall topography upgrades of the development enhanced views and outdoor living opportunities for residents and neighbors of Signal Creek.
